Who We Are

Founded in 1976, Tapestry Counseling is a group of licensed independent psychotherapists dedicated to providing the highest quality mental health services to a diverse client population. Tapestry Counseling has maintained a vital presence in the Boston community over the past three decades of political, social, cultural and psychological change. Today Tapestry therapists continue their commitment to helping clients achieve greater freedom and personal strength through a unique partnership based on trust, clear boundaries and confidentiality.

With our origins as a feminist therapy collective, Tapestry's original members wanted to address the effect of power disparities related to gender, race, ethnicity, class, sexual orientation, age and ability. At the time, most psychotherapy theories had not considered these issues. Since then feminism has played a critical role in the development of therapies which promote a collaborative stance between therapist and client and which discourage pathologizing and blaming of victims.

DUE TO COVID-19 WE ARE ALL CURRENTLY WORKING OFF-SITE. WE ARE SEEING OUR CLIENTS VIRTUALLY ON HIPPA-COMPLIANT PLATFORMS.
